In 1997 Apple Inc. ran an Ad saying, “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers…the ones who see things differently… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward… we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” With the help of brilliant marketing, unique branding and genius design Apple Inc. has changed the world. As a result their brand has created an almost religious following that has helped make Apple as of August 20, 2012 the most valuable US company ever—having an estimated market value of 623.5 billion dollars.
People are unusually loyal to the Apple brand. It was voted the most admired company from 2008-2012 in Fortune magazine’s annual list. Apple not only creates exciting products but also communicates electrifying marketing and branding strategies to their customers, employees and competitors. Every aspect of their business has been designed to help correspond their brand message.
Apple products while easy to use, and fun to show off are also very stylish. Apple is not just a tech firm but also a design firm. That is what makes Apple so appealing. They communicate their corporate philosophy, of “technology through the design, making your electronics become more humane”, which is also seen in their stores (online and in person).
Many industries have taken notice of Apples infiltration into many aspects of everyday life. So much so that automakers: BMW, GM, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda have all partnered with Apple to install voice recognition systems based on Apple’s Siri. This system will be based on Bluetooth and will only work when a cell phone is in the car. Apple also has been working with Cadillac for some time on its new infotainment system and every 2013 Cadillac XTS will include an iPad.
No matter how many new Apple users there are one still feels like they are part of an exclusive club when using an Apple product. For some time many industries based around the PC have been adopting Apple products to boost the morale of their employees.
Furthermore Apple has become so trendy that it now serves its customers through its own chain of 375 stores worldwide. These stores are so popular that within the past 10 months over 300 million people have visited one of these uniquely lustrous, and hip boutiques. The Apple brand has become a major part of our modern culture, and the world that we know wouldn’t be the same without it.
